This passage amazes me. Here we have Jesus mourning over His cousin, John the Baptist's, death. And even as Jesus is mourning the loss of a loved one, instead of feeling sorry for himself and taking time to mourn, He decides to show compassion for people who are not quite dead, but dying. These people weren't coming to offer Jesus their condolances and bring him baked goods and money like so many people do these days, they were coming to receive what Jesus had. How weird would it be in today's time, if we went to a funeral of a loved one not to mourn their death, but to pray for everyone else around. It seems that Jesus' love was greater then his grief.
