Have I ever been ashamed of the gospel? I would like to be able to say "no" to that question, but the truth is I can't. There have been times in my life when I have had the chance to present the gospel to people, but stopped because I was worried that I would not do it right, or worried about what they may say. I think about members of my own family that do not know Christ. I have always been reluctant to bring up faith issues with them. Reading this verse shows the importance of presenting the gospel every chance you get. As Christians, we tend to get caught up in waiting until the right time to present the gospel. When is the right time to give a life saving message? If someone were about to be hit by an oncoming bus, would we hesitate to save them because a relationship had not been developed. The truth is that when we do these things, we show that we are ashamed of the gospel. The message of the gospel is powerful enough to save regardless of the time or the circumstances.
