This is true service to the Lord. This is the way Jesus served humanity. The amazing thing is that God had always wanted it to be this way, In Isaiah 58:6-9 God, talking through the prophet, says that the type of "Fasting" or service to Him is to loose the chains, untie the yoke, to set the oppressed free. To share your food with the hungry, provide the homless with shelter, clothe the naked and to not turn away your own family. Because then "Your light will break forth like the dawn" and You will be healed, "your righteousness will go before You" and the Lord will have your back. He will be there to answer you whenever you call out for help! God's measure for serving the world and showing his light and love have been the same yesterday, today and will be tomorrow. When we follow His ways we don't have to worry about the details of life or "cares of this world". When the hard times come just know that the Lord will be there to lift you up and provide for all of your needs and carry you through the storm! What's better is that we then get to spend eternity with Him and the other sheep.
