These words make me think of the way the name of God and Jesus are "made a...byword" in our nation. The people who commentated on the Inaugural parade made mention of the preacher's prayer, having prayed in Jesus' name. They acted disgusted. David means through this whole prayer/psalm to point out how Israel is not being delivered and rescued as their forefathers were, but I hear a message to America. We aren't upholding the name of God and seeking His glory as we should. It will be by His right hand and mighty right arm that this nation will be saved from self-destruction. God must save us from our foes...but we must call on His name. We are the sleepers, not God.
