Who was listening to Jesus?
Jesus had been telling his disciples for awhile that he was going to suffer and die and then be raised to life. The disciples were not really listening to Jesus, however. They would try to change he subject or argue over who would be greatest in Jesus's new kingdom. If they had listened to Jesus as the women with the perfume bottle did, they would have done what she did. Take him literally and do what she could to honor him. I wonder if she had overheard Jesus telling his disciples that he was going to be killed and she responded to this in her own way that was much closer to God's heart than the disciples at the time.
