Genesis 48:6 How Much Did Jacob Know?
I think this is an interesting verse, because from Scripture we only really know that God said to Jacob that you'll inherit the land of Canaan and have many descendants.
What this verse suggests is that God must have also told Jacob that his children will become tribes and have their own particular territory. It does make you wonder how much God revealed to these guys that we don't know about.
