Order and Process
In my eyes, the book of Esther is a grand narrative, capturing God's divine wisdom and His dedication to order.
He exalted ordinary people, Jews even, to the heights of the kingdom by way of faithfulness to the Lord (4:16) and to the earthly king (2:22). I love that in the face of utter destruction, God didn't immediately swoop down and save His people (Don't get me wrong, I'd love for that to happen). Yet, He had a simple plan working through a couple of people that had previously been put in play (4:14). God wasn't frightened by Haman and those who would seek to destroy the Jews, but rather, as usual, He operated through 'process.' After fasting, Esther successfully entered the inner court of the king's palace by the Lord's favor, but even respected the orders of kingly petition, of kingly request, and of pomp and circumstance (Ch. 5), which ultimately brought about the physical salvation of the Jews.
I'm amazed by our God's terrifying power and utter simplicity. Somehow we have a choice to do the Lord's will (4:14a), but the ability and power are from Him and all glory is His. He is good!!!
