You know I always seem to blow past the first few verses thinking," ah thats just the intro", but right here v.1 is major. Here there have been hundreds of generations anticipating this son of God. They were eagerly waiting, these people knew no Jesus. Then in v.1 Mark says this is "the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God". This is exciting! We get to search and hear just as the people had when Jesus entered the scene. This wasn't just a filler intro, but a major attention grabber. Lets read on realizing the greatness of what's going on and turn from the cultural ease in which we approach Jesus. The son of God came down and saved us!
