While some may not see the immediate connection between these verses and the church, bear with me. While we should remember that all the law was fulfilled through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, it is still the moral basis for God's relationship with man. In short, it applies to the church today. So, if Jesus says these are the two most important commandments, and they apply to His Church, how are we doing? Is there evidence in our lives individually and in our churches that loving God with all that we are is our number one priority? If that weren't enough, our love for God is exhibited through our love for others. In case we need a reminder as to what loving others looks like, let's remember Jesus. He always was loving others, thinking and doing what was best for them.
So, do our churches look like what Jesus was talking about? Is is obvious that we are actively loving God and Loving People? With the Lord's help, may we see that picture of the church come into focus in our lives.
