This is just good stuff- basic instructions for all of us. Love everyone, hate what God hates, love what He loves, be a family and look like it, don't get lazy- be fervent, pray a lot, be happy with those who are happy and cry with those who are having a rough go of it, empathize and mean it, be agreeable, stay humble- you don't always have to be right, don't think you're smart when we all have a lot to learn, don't payback when you're done wrong, be peaceful, and even further- be nice to your enemies. Whew! All that sounds easy enough, huh? Yeah right!
I especially love verse 10 in this translation (HCSB) that says this, "Outdo one another in showing honor." All of this is totally opposite of the world! Everyone is always trying to make a name for themselves, they're vengeful and they busy themselves justifying their unforgiveness. The kind of living this scripture talks about is the complete antithesis of living for yourself. We live to make those around us look good, which in turn makes the light of Jesus even brighter to those in the dark.
