Today I heard a Robb Bell Sermon that messed with me up, I started asking my self questions like... where would Jesus go that I won't. . .Do I have a knee jerk reaction to some outsiders? Do I feel compromise is a requirement to being relevant? and if so do I ever project? Do I have a knee jerk reaction to a pastor meeting the Dali lama, is that my problem or his?
If I follow him how is it possible that I could go so long with out actually looking at who and what he has done. I guess the big question is it possible I could miss Jesus in the mists of Christianity?
On to the meat. . .
So some observations from Mark Chapter 1...

1. Jesus would challenge the culture of the church of the day by being one of those people.
It is the feeling some may get (meaning me) when you hear stories about people wanting to become a better type of Christian (reading the bible more, reaching people for Christ etc.). (It is the idea that Jesus couldn't have possibly wanted us to live like that I mean be weird) Example 1: Mark 1:12-13, even getting baptized by a crazy looking guy in the wild (Mark 1:9-10) He talks about a Kingdom, talks about fishing for people to people who fish for fish for a living. (HE may have been one of those people)

2. Jesus doesn't allow his followers to just sit?
Mark 1:17 He says come follow me.

3. He knew what he was talking about and he didn't need to reference century upon century of scholarly work to back his point. (Mark 1:22)

4. Jesus engages kingdoms that cant be seen, and more importantly they are engaging him. He commands
them to shut up. and that isnt even worth 3 Paragraphs, that isnt even close to the most important thing to happen.

5. Towns would come to just check this guy out... he was doing stuff. Mark 1:33

6. He didn't need people to know who he was, he was actually trying to hide his power. (Mark 1:34) Jesus had an anti- hype mentality, rather than let the culture get worked up about him he choose to leave. (Mark 1:37-38)

7. Suffering bothered him and he would engage it no matter how it looked to the everybody else (Mark 1:40-41)

8. When he touched people healing happened (Mark 1:44-45)... And that was just chapter one.
