come together...
Division is grody. There's no mincing of words here either- those who cause strife, avoid them. Period. There's so much in this world that separates us- why can't we join together with the ultimate uniting point- Jesus and Him crucified? Yeah, yeah, pretty idealistic, I know. But how different would the churches in our cities be if we weren't threatened by each other? If we didn't major on the minors, so to speak? If we didn't let race, ethnicity, culture, and dare I say it, even those little glitches in the matrix- the stuff in scripture that we'd rather argue about keep us separated? I always think of that beautiful quote by Augustine (as told by John Wesley, I think- forgive me if I'm wrong): "In the essentials, let there be unity, in the nonessentials let there be liberty, and in everything let there be charity."
