The Lord's Desire For Us
Psalm 81
This Psalm demonstrates the Lord's desire for us to be with Him in loving relationship. Especially notice verse 13.
He promised to care for us and provide all the good things in our lives (see vers. 10,14-16).
I think of a shepherd and the sheep of His flock. The only safe place for us sheep is with the Shepherd and His flock. The Shepherd protecting us and providing green pastures and still waters.
Compare with Psalm 23. See Jere. 30:10
For us to be in a loving relationship with Him is a major theme of the entire Bible and is clearly Our God's desire. But He doesn"t force it on us. It is the choice He has given us -"the knowledge of good and evil" (see Gen. 2:15-17) as opposed to "the fellowship with God and all that's good" (My quote). It's a choice that we believers deal with daily because that "old nature" (like a zombie corpse) still hangs onto our backs (see Col. 3:1-14).
