The Chief priest and the scribes wanted to destroy Jesus for they feared him because the crowds were shocked at his teaching. In Christ dwell ALL treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Christ is the wisdom and power of God. His knowledge is infinitely vast. Who wouldn't be astonished? They were blind. Surely they were because blind people can't see glory. The excellences and perfections of Christ are beauties that require a miracle to behold.
