enjoy the couch tonight
I wish I could gotten away with the way Jesus answered questions when I was in school. Either trail off and tell a story, answer the question with a question, or like here, ask for one thing, give 'em two! Seriously though, I do love that although Jesus is asked the what the most important commandment is and He answers, He has to mention a second one of great importance, too. Of course, nothing should come between us and God. He is first. But I love that Jesus also gives great importance to our relationship with others. In other words, loving God means loving His body, too- people. I mean if Jesus is our head and we are the body, how dumb would it be to say that we only love Him from the neck up? Imagine telling your significant other, "Oh, I love looking into your face, your eyes are amazing... But your elbows really gross me out." Yeah, enjoy the couch tonight. But really, we respond completely wrong by assuming that we can love God and not love His body. It makes no sense.
