God's reassurance? "I am God."
I love encouragement. I love to encourage others. I love it when others try to encourage me. Even if I see them "trying", and it doesn't seem quite effective, it becomes effective because I'm encouraged by seeing them try to encourage me!!! ;-) What does that have to do with Exodus 6:2? I love God's encouragement to Moses here. Moses is being asked by God to go do the equivalent of approaching the president of the United States, in person, and demanding that he allow around a million people to follow him out of the country with no paperwork, no long "good bye's", no security checks, nothin'. Needless to say, Moses is a bit nervous about it. So, God comes to encourage Moses and what does God say? "I am the Lord." Isn't that funny and profoundly powerful altogether?!? Lord: 1. a person who has authority, control, or power over others; a master, chief, or ruler. 2. a person who exercises authority from property rights; an owner of land, houses, etc. 3. a person who is a leader or has great influence in a chosen profession. So, yeah, pretty much whatever situation we're in that's gonna be encouraging. I love it!
