Romans 8:28 ASV

People often say 'everything happens for a reason.' But I think they're really thinking of, and misquoting, this verse. God knows everything that will happen, and he *can* intervene in any situation to make a good outcome. And it won't always be the outcome we wanted. He can intervene, but that doesn't mean he always does. Bad things do happen to good people, because we live in a fallen world. I like how Joe Stowell put it: 'God manages our messes to good and glorious outcomes.'
