Just watch the local news at night where I live and you'll hold on so tight to verses like this that your knuckles turn white. It's funny because it would be easy to read this and dismiss it as just sweet poetry because bad things happento good people all the time. If only we were guaranteed ultimate protection- that we wouldn't even stub a toe in this life. But the truth is, God os our protection. He does take care of us. He does shield us. He watches out for us and over us. I believe it. I can't explain why the bad stuff happens except that we live in a present evil age. But God is greater- He is more powerful than anything that gets thrown our way. I love how the message says in verse 14- "If you hold on to me for dear life, I'll get you out of any trouble." We can't be led around by fear, by what-ifs all the time. We live our lives and we trust that God's got our back...and our front! He is our comforter, our protection and our rescue when we need it.
