Noah's Flood, Global or Local?
Genesis 7:4 ASV, Genesis 7:11 ASV, Genesis 7:17-21 ASV and Genesis 7:23 ASV
The language used to describe the flood here seems to indicate rather strongly that the flood was no local, or little event. "Every living substance that I have made will I destroy from the face of the earth." The description of the waters rising gives this more support: "the waters increased...prevailed...increased greatly...prevailed exceedingly..." Furthermore, we are told that "all the high hills, under the whole heaven, were covered...and the mountains were covered." As a result, "all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both birds, cattle, and beasts, and every man...every living substance was destroyed." The language here paints a catastrophic picture of Global proportions.
