This has got to be one of my all-time favorite verses. Its content is so huge that we will never be able to exhaust its meaning. But we can sure toss a few thoughts on the table in this second part of our study of Ephesians.

The words "blessed", "has blessed", and "blessing" come from the same basic Greek word, which puts together "eu", which means "good", and "logos", which means word. So...when we bless God, we are proclaiming a "good word" about Him. When He blesses us, He is speaking a "good word" over us. And when we receive His spiritual blessings in the heavenly places, those are essentially "good words" released into our lives.

Now, we don’t proclaim this “good word” about just any god. It is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, there is no other who deserves this “good word”. It belongs to Him alone. What or who receives our highest word? The answer to that question reveals the depths of our hearts.

The “good words” that God desires to release into our lives are located in a place and in a Person. The place is the heavenlies, and the Person is in Jesus Christ. That’s why we are told to “seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God” (Colossians 3:1) and to look “unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2) If we stay located in the right place with the right Person, all of those “good words” are ours for the keeping!
