Romans 2
1-11: DON'T BE STUPID! Don't judge others! As a teenager, I experience 'judging' over and over and over again, generally through stereotypes and cliques of whatever sort... we all know we're guilty of it! There's no denying that fact. Do we not realize that the Lord is being gracious to us? Do we not realize that we ourselves are just as terrible as the people we're judging? We're all bad people. We all sin. We ALL sin. But if we at least TRY to do good(it's not the destination, it's the road taken to get there!), God will grant us with his wonderful gift of eternal life! That's generally something I don't want to be without.
Lord, fill my heart with your goodness. I want to be like You. I want to have a kind, humble heart that is constantly willing and able to fulfill your needs, not my own. I want to live in the Spirit, not the World.
12-16: Whether or not you know God's Word, YOU'RE STILL A SINNER. It's whether or not you act upon this Word that you'll be judged, not if you've heard it! That's like grading a book report on whether or not you read the book, rather than the report itself.
I want to act out Your Word, Jesus! I want to be a living, breathing example of “on fire” for Jesus THROUGH YOUR NAME. And YOUR actions, Jesus! I need you in my life – starting with the Bible. Lord, help me to set apart times to read and discover the glory that you hold, or at least the glory you're allowing humans to understand on this earth.
17-24: I'm guilty of this, and I'm sure we all are at one point or another: hypocrisy. One thing I'm very good at, hypocrisy-wise, would be 'teaching' women to be pure and ladylike, but myself leading an impure life just as bad as the rest of us. I've been totally aware of this for quite a while, but it's time to take some action. Lord, lift me.
25-29: Lord, I'm struggling to be humble. I want to receive praise from You and not the world – teach me to honor this. After all, it's You I should be worried about, right? I don't want to end up alone and without my God. Teach me to follow you HUMBLY.
