Leviticus 3:17 ASV

The blood of the animal covered the sins of the people when given in sacrifice. The fat was part of every sacrifice offered. God does not allow the sacred things to be treated as common, or the blood of atonement to be treated like it has no meaning. He reflects this in Hebrews 10:29 "How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?" He tells the Jewish people in Leviticus that this is not even allowed in the privacy of their own homes. How many times do I use His name in vain, even in my own thoughts, or wear my cross necklace in public but not live like the example I'm supposed to be setting? Blasphemy is perhaps the easiest of all the sins to fall into.
