giving more than enough
After the Israelites' exodus from Egypt, during their time in the desert, Moses led them to build the Temple. The Temple was to be built using all of the finest things - gold, silver, bronze, cloths, hides - all of which were given by the Israelites as instructed by Moses. Here's the thing that caught my attention: after the Israelites brought all that they had been instructed to bring, they still "continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning." And they brought so much that the people building the temple said "they people are bringing more than enough for doing the work the Lord commanded to be done." So incredibly, through Moses instruction, "the people were restrained from bringing more." Can you imagine? Can you imagine what could be possible if, rather than having to consistently remind people to give, and lead people to give, people would freely bring their finest offerings "morning after morning?" And at some point, the church could have the privilege of telling people to stop giving - because there is more than enough to do "all the work" God has called the church to do?
