Unemployment levels are expected to reach double-digits. I heard this morning that unemployment numbers reported from the past three consecutive months are higher than any three consecutive months of unemployment numbers reported during the Great Depression. For many, it is tempting to blame God for the economic trauma, or any negative event, which befalls us. Remember, God never gives us anything more than we can personally handle, and like many things that seem negative and/or trying in our life, this too shall come to pass. During times of economic and personal crisis, I believe it is important to remember Romans 8:17-19. For those of us who have fully committed our lives to Christ, scripture says, "we go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we're certainly going to go through the good times with him. That's why I don't think there's any comparison between the present hard times and the coming good times." Just like the Great Depression, our current economic situation shall also pass, only to be followed by a great time of prosperity and abundance. Whatever you do, don't turn your back on God during these difficult times. I have been guilty of this in my past, only to realize later, that despite my own selfishness, God still loved me enough to continue working miracles in my life.
