More then a magic show
Herod reminds me of so many modern day "christians." He was excited to see Jesus not because of the message that Jesus had to bring, but because of the miracles that he had heard about. So many "christians" today are the exact same way. Whenever people hear about a famous televangelist coming to a church, they always rush to get the closest seats because they want to see him work his "magic" and "miracles." And it's because we get so wrapped up in what can God do for us? instead of what can we do for him? that we can miss the entire message of the gospel.
