Numbers 32:5 - Losing Focus
Observation:
Its funny how often God has promised great things for us, but we'd rather not wait on God's timing and try to take hold of what looks best to us for that moment.
The Reubenites and Gadites have heard the promise of God about the land of across the Jordan. They have already seen how God was displeased with the 12 that said they should not follow God into the promise He has given them. And yet, they still find it easier to sit and take hold of what they have in front of them.
This is losing focus and faith in God. We would rather build up and take hold of something ourselves that we can physically see and touch, rather than to take hold of the promises God has provided for us.
Application:
I need to remember the promises that God has made to me and hold fast to those. I need to fix my eyes on Him and make sure that as I go through the day that I'm consistently reminding myself of this.
Prayer:
God, help me never lose sight of your promise for my life. Help me never take for granted Your Word and Your truths. Help me remember that You have a purpose for my life, and that even when things are rough and don't make sense, that you are there with me to help me along the way.
