This a lesson that I recently heard a podcast of by John Piper. He focused on the response of Jesus to his mother to begin with. "Woman what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come? In todays vocabulary it would sound like Mom What does this have to do with me? It's not time yet. Piper says that his response to her was to say and show that not even the very family of Jesus had an automatic ticket punch to heaven. He was not disrespecting her, but making a point. "My hour has not yet come." The time to go to the cross is not yet upon me. Then he performed the miracle like his mother had asked him to do. Something must have connected with his Mom also because she says. Guys. Do whatever he tells you. Got it. Then in symbolic fashion the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world through His blood uses a bunch of ritual "cleansing pots" They used them to cleanse themselves in. So! The lamb turns water into wine. The wine is the blood, and the pots are all of us. the blood cleanses.
