This is a popular scripture because the captives are set free, the blind can see and the oppressed are set free. This scripture is even more popular to preachers, myself included, because we believe this scripture is telling us that the preacher is anointed to do these things or does it? It says that we are anointed, not to do these things, but to preach and proclaim. The Word of God is anointed to release the captives, to open the blind eyes and to free the oppressed. This is a good reminder to stay humble before God, for we are not the deliverer...He Is.
