Jesus was so WISE! The second He saw that the disciples were appearing a little too excited about the fact that "even the demons obey us", He used this as another teachable moment for them: "But don't rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven." WOW!
My former church became a place where people very easily became "puffed up" by their works and deeds, but at the same time, totally took their eyes of God. Sure, some had amazing skills and knowledge and were able to give extremely large sums of money to the ministry, but where was the acknowledgement that it was God who gave those abilities and talents? Where was the humble spirit that we should all possess no matter how wonderful you THINK you are?
Don't get excited over your good works without acknowledging the fact that it was God who gave them to you. Stay humble at all times.
