I just read what my brother wrote about this and said out loud, "I was just thinking that!" So, he's probably the one from whom I heard it! :o) But oh well, it's worth saying...I've heard people teach the beatitudes in such a way that they were the requirements to get into the kingdom. But that's not the case. Jesus is bringing us hope here- reminding us that yeah, we may be sad now, but just you wait, there will be a day that we won't be! We may weep now, but we don't have to, He never left us. People may insult and reject us, but it's cool- even Jesus was, He can relate. And so even though all this craziness may happen, I can leap for joy. I don't think I do this when I face opposition...I'll work on it! :o)
