It's so easy to love the people that love us. That doesn't prove anything. But can you love the ones that don't love you back? That might straight up hate you? THAT is proof that you follow Christ. If we only give to people that we know will pay us back then that's not really giving. Instead of threatening payback- even if it's just in our minds- is not what God wants us to do. We are to be mercy givers in every opportunity we have. Giving above and beyond, loving the unlovable, being merciful- THIS proves the love of God is in us.
