great faith
First of all, thank goodness Jesus doesn't only intervene in the lives of those worthy to receive His grace and mercy. That would mean nobody. Second, it's so interestng that great faith here is defined in a man who understood authority. He knew Jesus could just say the word and things would happen. He didn't need the hoopla, to big show. He knew what it was like to boss folks around and have them obey. And so this guy knew there were things that were subject to jesus in the same way. Just like he didn't have to physically go to some lowly officer and make his requests known- he could send one guy to tell anothe guy to tell another guy, etc and the job would be done wihtout him lifting a finger- Jesus could stand right where he was and the same thing would happen. The power was in Him so it didn't matter what He did, the healing would take place. He knew it. That's some great faith. And from a guy that didn't even walk with Him... hmm.
