don't box Him...out
How silly that these guys were so bound by rules that healing on the Sabbath seemed like a bad thing. It seems so ridiculous. But I think we allsort of get in our little boxes when it comes to God and it's difficult sometimes for us to imagine Him moving outside of them. More often than not, God doesn't do things on my time table, He doesn't work in only one way, there's not just one way things get done. God is God and He is big! Maybe we don't adhere to rules about healing on the Sabbath the way the Pharisees did, but I bet we have our "rules" in place about approaching God- we box Him in. The music at church has to be just so, this is always the way we've done it, the teaching needs to be like this, etc. I heard someone say once that we make monuments out of movements or moments. Those moments when God moves, we get so rigid and think that's the only way He moves. Silly. When we put God IN a box, we're really boxing Him out, you know? God, forgive me for being rigid in any areas of my life. You are huge and can do anything. Forgive me for times in my life that I've diminshed your ability and desire to what I'm used to or what's worked in the past.
