When Things Are Taken From You
I can grasp the "turn the other cheek" mentality to a certain extent, but Jesus goes as far to say if someone rips you off and steals things from you, you're not to try to get them back? I wonder how far reaching a statement that is... I mean, if someone steals my laptop, am I not to file a police report in the hopes of getting it back (as unlikely as it may be)? If someone stole a church van or trailer, does this imply that Jesus would not want us to try to get it back? If this request was played out in full, I would imagine Christ followers would be taken advantage of frequently... is that really the message? I can understand not suing them or even not pressing charges or whatever... but not trying to get it back...? Hmmm...
