Romans 1:20-25 ASV

I am no better than the Romans Paul is addressing with this letter. I have known God, been raised to know Him since I was born, but I have not honored Him with my full devotion or even a proper acknowledgment of the great price He paid to redeem me. I have a working, functioning knowledge of all things "Christian", yet I have not grasped the full implications of what the Christian life means, giving myself fully to Him in all ways, seeking only His approval and resting in His love. I exchanged the truth of His unconditional love for the lie that I needed the approval of others, in essence making man my idol because I valued human opinion more than God's.

Although I have not gone as far as homosexuality (which this passage goes on to discuss), I have worshiped the creature rather than the Creator by making other people's approval more important than God's and constantly striving for others love when He has already given His love freely to me and at a great price.
