Is it ever easy to get caught up in pleasing man- being constantly worried about what other people think, comparing yourself to others, being consumed with being liked or accepted, living in insecurity. Ick. Just made me exhausted thinking about it. Image is not everything as we are "taught." It's actually nothing. God looks directly into my heart and sees every motive. This verse makes it pretty clear- if I'm worried about the approval and acceptance of others then I'm not His. The only opinion I need to care about is God's- that's important to remember when placed in situations where it feels like confronting sin would dismantle the friendship. Seem too costly? Nah, sounds like that friendship might be in need of getting taken apart. Or how about when given the choice to follow the crowd or follow Christ? I'm not here to fit in. I'm here to stand out- to please and bring glory to God.
