Life in the Fast Lane
“When you fast…”
“But someday the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.”
- FASTING IS THE SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINE OF " DENYING " OUR APPETITE TO " FOCUS " ON GOD.
Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourself to prayer.
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.- SPIRITUAL HUNGER " LEADS " TO FASTING.
- JEHOSHAPHAT HUNGERED FOR " CLARITY ".
“…Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah.”- ESTHER HUNGERED FOR " COURAGE ".
“Go gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do…- JOEL HUNGERED FOR " BREAKTHROUGH ".
“Declare a holy fast…summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.”
IDENTIFY YOUR SPIRITUAL HUNGER?
Then your light will shine like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your God will walk before you, and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind. Then you will call out, and the LORD will answer. You will cry out,- FASTING LEADS TO SPIRITUAL " HUNGER ".
The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered “It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”SEEK GOD’S PRESENCE NOT HIS PRESENTS
But seek first His Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
