Our spirit and flesh are in opposition- some versions say "at war with" one another. A war is not a thumb wrestling match. It's gory, it's intense- one side will surrender and even die. One of these two will win out. But it's easy to think the only sins that are deadly are the big bad ones- murder, hatred, sexual immorality, sorcery, etc. But here in the middle of the big bad list are things like jealousy, strife, division, selfish ambitions, factions, etc. There's no rating system. Any of these disqualify us. Yep. Not just killing that gal that ticks you off but but being jealous, selfish, causing division, getting angry, etc. Ouch.
