Read "Holding Hands, Gaining Honor" by jackielovesjon here on YouVersion. Great stuff. And from my friend that is a terrific mom. She talks abotu the difference between obeying and honoring. I've often smooshed these two together but wow, are they ever different. Obedience is obvious- doing what someone says. But honor "places value." I think of times in my life that I've obeyed (I kind of think of giving but not-so-cheerfully). Whereas, honoring, goes above and beyond- it's an attitude, not just an action. I was really encouraged by this passage. I want to be a great mom. I want my boys to not just obey God, but honor Him. I want to model this in our relationship- not just teach them to obey, but walk with them through what it means to honor. Thanks, Jackie- you walk this out and really encouraged me tonight! Thank you Jesus, for the AWESOME opportunity to raise my boys. They are incredible little men that I pray will honor You all the days of their lives. Help me teach them to not just obey, but honor.
