There is a difference between those who believe in God and those who believe God. The first will publicly display his religion with bumper stickers and jewelry and will likely attend a local church service on a weekly basis. He might even marvel at the creation around him and give God the credit But let trouble come and you will see anxiety and fear rise with the pressure. If the problem is not quickly resolved, desperation or depression will soon consume him so that he feels helpless and alone. But where is his God? Being omnipresent, He has not moved an inch from him. Does his God not know what to do? Being omniscient, the answer is always in His hand. Can his God deliver him from this awful situation? Being omnipotent, there is nothing impossible with Him. If only this man could cast his cares onto a real and active God who has promised to never leave him or forsake him and can surely deliver him from all his troubles. If only he could understand that even the wind and the waves are subject to Him and that his safety is assured even if He appears to be sleeping in the back of the boat. If only he could believe God.

James 2:14
