Safe In Him
The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.(KJV).
As believers we can take comfort in this verse. In the world we live in with our economy and other life situations around us crumbling we do not have to fear. We have the name of the Lord we can run to. We have a God who cares and is concerned about us. He is our strong tower, a fortress for us in this life. The Lord is a place of survival and refuge through life's storms. At times we feel the need to run to other temporal things for relief from life's troubles but the Lord is our ultimate place of refuge we need to turn to.
The righteous runneth into it , and is safe. The word safe in the Hebrew means lofty especially inaccessible,set up on high, be too strong. This does not mean believers who trust in the Lord will never encounter a problem or issue in their lives. When we trust in the Lord, when we run to Him we are safe from the judgement of God, penalties of sin, wrath to come, hell, and the second death. We are out of reach and danger from all eternal punishments.
More than ever in this world we live in we need to turn to the Lord to be safe. We fill up our lives with things that make us feel safe. These are temporary fixes at best which are fine. Run to the One who can save us from our sin, give us security from eternal destruction. He is a place safe enough where the gates of hell cannot prevail against it. No earthly place or person can provide us with an unaccessible place of safety like the Lord.
Believers do not have to allow whatever is happening in the world dictate our safety. We take comfort in the fact that no matter what comes our way in life our ultimate safety is in Him. It is up to us to take advantage of the protection the Lord has made available for us. The world can offer a temporal shelter of safety from life's storms. While this can provide us with some sense of security in this world in which we live. However, the world cannot provide us with safety in regards to eternal things. Temporal safety will not matter much in light of eternity. The Lord can provide us with the confidence that as we trust in Him we are safe and incapable of being eternally separated from Him.
We can get caught up in the situations which plague our world. We become fearful when our focus is on the ups and downs of life. We run here and there looking for safety and security we think the world can offer. The world does provide us with some avenues of security and safety but these are temporary and fleeting. The Lord can offer us safety and security now and forever. It is up to us to put our trust in Him
