Who wrote this gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God? What is a gospel of Jesus Christ? When was it written? Where was it written? Why was it written?

The book of Mark is known as the first of the 4 gospels. Matthew, Luke, and John are the other 3. The book of Mark provided a literary basis for Matthew and Luke. John has more of a theological thrust while telling the accounts of Jesus' life. Mark revolves around the good news about Jesus, Messiah, Son of God. "The plot consists of Jesus' effective proclamation in word and deed of the "gospel" from God that God's promised redemptive rule was at hand summoning people to repent and respond in faith. To think the thoughts of God." (Dictionary of Jesus and the Gospels) Mark 8:33 says: "But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man."

Two suggested theories to why the author didn't tell the reader who they were.
1) The author assumed that the readers knew who the author was.
2) The author understood that his Gospel was not his own creative work, but that it was a telling of the gospel from God promised by Isaiah.
Isaiah 52:7 and Isaiah 61:1 were being fulfilled in Mark 1:14. (Isaiah was written close to 700 years before Mark)

Date: Around 70AD
Because the author was so focused on giving a narrative of Jesus' life and teachings the author had little motivation to discuss his day and time in the book.
