guilty...but free to go
It's easy to imagine someone taking up for you when you're right, someone coming to your defense when you're the one who has been wronged. But Jesus stood up (or rather knelt and drew) for someone guilty of sin. Truth is, we were all this woman- lost in sin, caugh and guilty, sentenced to death. And knowing we were wrong, we deserved it. But Jesus lovingly stepped in and spared our lives. What grace. He defended me when I was guilty as charged. But I love how He took it further than just that moment and gave this woman (and us) instructions to live by- "go and sin no more." In other words, stop doing what you were doing. That's not you. From here on out, do this differently. And the gavel drops...
