God's Timing
Ecclesiastes 3:1 ASV and Ecclesiastes 3:11 ASV
For as much as we can talk about God's timing being perfect, I think a lot of times that is said with a sense of impatience when we don't know why God isn't doing something we want. When I read through this section of Ecclesiastes, I get a different sense of peace about it. That God's timing is all about God's control in and through our lives. The walking through of all the times, the seasons, that God could bring into our lives - a lot of them sounded like ways that we try to say God only works in, instead of having the perspective that God works in different ways at different times in our lives. It may be a time for peace in my life, but a time for war in yours. It may be a time for blessing in another's life and a time of pain for mine. Neither one of us is more holy or sinful, we've not missed the "utopia" buddist type state because we've disobeyed, we are just in the midst of God's will and the "time" or season of what that means in God's timing for our life.
It spoke a lot to the judgment and expectation of "sameness" I carry in my faith. That narcissism that if everyone was "obedient" like me (tongue in cheek) that their life, wealth, relationships, health, etc should look like mine. And if it isn't they are doing something wrong, or maybe I am - that the check and balance of life has a predictable outcome, instead of a peace a trust in the seasons of God in each of our lives.
