"No Lack Among Us"
Wow...what a powerful thought from this scripture. The early church of the book of Acts is recorded as being a covenant fellowship of believers who were so connected in genuine "koinonia" (fellowship) that there was no one "among them who lacked." How does this compare to where the church is today and our concept of ministry? How far has the 21st century church moved away from the "model" church of the New Testament? At times, it seems, we can get so caught up in the building of our ministries with global outreach and vision, that some of the needs right up under our noses, in our local assemblies, our local communities, and families, go unmet. When the Israelites came out of Egyptian bondage, it is recorded that there was "not one feeble one among them" Perhaps we could stand to re-visit the original intent, purpose, and assignment of the church so that we are really meeting the needs that are right around us. What are your thoughts...?
