It's so easy t o look at what someone else is doing and compare. But we must stay the course God has asked of us. We may be asked to do things that others are not. We may go in a place others are not asked to go. Since when do we check around with everyone else and compare notes? I heard it said once that we need to stay in our own lane. If I am constantly concerned with what another car is doing on the road, staring them down in my rearview mirror, looking back to see what their doing, slowing down to catch a glimpse- I run the risk of an accident on my part. I could veer into someone else's lane and cause a wreck, rear end somebody in front of me, run off the road into a ditch. My job is to drive my car. I must stay focused on the road ahead of me... aware of the elements around me but focused on my destination. Furthermore, if I'm waiting to see what others are doing before I sprilg into action, I'm just being disobedient. I've heard it said that procrastination is just disobedience in slow motion. Even Jesus required immediate action when He asked (let the dead bury the dead, drop what you're doing and follow me, etc.) God may ask something of me that he asks no one else. Does that mean I shouldn't do it? No way. I gotta stay in my lane.
