In a door-to-door survey conducted by Willow Creek Community Church of South Barrington, IL (which is probably the largest church in the U.S.), the question was asked:
"If you don’t go to church, why?" The five biggest reasons:
1- Boring
2- Irrelevant
3- Asking for money all the time
4- I’m too busy already
5- I feel awkward at church.

It's true many times has become boring and evangelical Christians today are considered boring and out of touch with the world around them (not relevant) because we swim against the public opinion on so many different topics.
But the Bible says that, "Gods message rang out clearly, not only in Macedonia or Achaia but everywhere.

It is more important than ever before that we 'walk the talk', that we show people God's love in a real way. We need to change the perception that Christians and Churches are boring, irrelevant and not applicable to todays society.

Harold St. John said, "The chief business of every Christian in the world today is to evangelize. No consideration of age or sex, poverty or rank, allows you to escape. The one controlling thing that lies before you is that your business in the world is to preach the gospel to every creature, if you bear the name of Christian at all...."

Evangelizing, witnessing, testifying, or ringing out the Lord’s message should be the primary function of the church! It should be the major work and goal of the church!

Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God! He is the Savior of the world. He is the only Savior of the world! His death on the cross does save us from our sins and from the penalty of sin. And the world needs to hear about it. The world needs to hear about Him!

Jesus was a "seeker" of the lost. He found the woman at the well as recorded in John 4. She was not the kind of person that most people would have been interested in. She’d had five husbands and was at that time living with a man who was not her husband. Jesus sought her and talked to her in order to bring salvation to her life.

Many people will never come to know Christ as their Savior unless we go to them with the message! There are seekers in this world, but there are few seekers who will come into our church services. What does this mean? It simply means that we have to go to them! We have to find them! We have to witness to them! We have to speak to them about Christ!

APPLICATION:
Paul commends the church in Thessalonica for their work produce by faith, for their labor prompted by love, and for their endurance inspired by the hope given by Jesus Christ.
He commends them for becoming imitators of the Apostles and of the Lord Jesus.
He further commend them for becoming a model for all the believers in Macedonia.
We need to do the same today.
Faith without works is dead. So we are not saved by works but by faith; however, our faith should cause us to want to do good works. Our love for people and for the down trodden and those less fortunate should prompt us to labor. Labor means to work, to toil, to strive toward a goal. Our goal should always be to use what we have to make Jesus known to all. Whether its taking an elderly neighbor grocery shopping or helping a single mom watch her kids. The goal is always that through your life Jesus will be known everywhere and God will be glorified in every situation. In order to do this you need endurance, the type of endurance that only comes through hope in Christ. When you want to give up and normally you would, hope in Christ and what He has achieved for us through great suffering and pain motivates us to push forward one step at a time.
In doing this we are imitating Jesus and becoming a model for Christians everywhere. Jesus said,"Love your enemy as yourself", "forgive seventy-seven times", He touched the untouchable, healed the unworthy, spoke with a Samaritan women who had been married 5 times and now lived with a man she wasn't married to. It's is probable that no-one in that time period would have spoken to her but considered her to be 'Trailer Park Trash', Finally Jesus said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do” even as they killed Him.
Now you go and follow HIS example. You will change the world.
