The value of these books would have been in the millions of dollars. Why didn't they sell them and use the money for good works? Because they were repenting of sin, crucifying and destroying it. They didn't keep a copy of their favorite book to put on the mantle and remember the good old days, they didn't have a garage sale and pass the sin on down to the next guy, they got rid of it. Get rid of those objects related to your sin. If they are immoral don't sell them, destroy them.
