Have you ever met somebody that seems to have multiple personalities? Well God is like that a bit. There is something called the God-Head or the Trinity. The God-Head is made up of: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit.

God and Jesus are partners. Like a Father and son relationship. The bible says in John 1:1-2 that, “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God.” Those verses tell us that God and Jesus is the same person. It also tells us twice that Jesus and God the Father were partners even from the beginning.

God; God the Father is the one that always spoke to people in the Old Testament. God was in favor of war. He would always tell the Israelites to fight and take the land he has given them. He was the one that gave the Ten Commandments to Moses. And whenever the Israelites sinned, turned idols and were unfaithful, He would always hand them over to their enemies to punish them so they could learn a lesson. Josephs’ brothers betrayed him, and because of that, future Jews worked under Pharaoh and his cruel task masters (Exodus 1:11-14). The Egyptians beat the Jewish slaves, (most likely with whips). But eventually, they were set free from the cruel clutches of Egypt. The same thing happened other times too. They were punished by the Philistines, The Assyrians, Babylon, Persia, and Rome (Exodus 20:5), But every time, God rescued them (Ezekiel 16:53). In the Psalms, David, the songwriter keeps saying ‘his love endures forever.’ God the Father is the First character of the God-head.

Jesus; In the New Testament, God the Father seems to retire and let his Son do the talking. Jesus is the one that made Heaven and Earth (John 1:3). Jesus was a walking bible. He could quote scripture easy. He was the one that fulfilled every prophecy. He was the one who died and went through hell to save us (Isaiah 52:14; Isaiah 53:5). This is one of the greatest predictions on Jesus. And Jesus fulfilled it to the letter. Matthew 27:35 says that he was nailed to a cross - crucified. The nails went through the wrists and ankles, fulfilling the part, ‘pierced for our transgression’. Matthew 26:38 claims that Jesus soul was crushed to the point of death. ‘He was crushed…’ John 19:1 says that the Roman governor ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. The whipped cut him up, fulfilling Isaiah 53. Jesus was poor. Philippians 2:7 says that he made himself nothing. Jesus was a teacher, a carpenter, a healer, and someone who had a strong prayer life. The bible mentions Jesus getting up in the dark hours of the morning to pray (Mark 1:35). Jesus rose from death and is coming back a second time to gather his true followers, not the pretenders. Jesus was celibate as a man (Matthew 19:11-12) but figuratively speaking is married to the church. Jesus is the second character of the God-head.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. Jesus Promised him to us when he said that he would leave, but He would send the “Comforter”. The Spirit is often visualized like a dove. The bible says that at Jesus’ baptism, the Spirit came down in the body of a dove. The Holy Spirit lives in our hearts. In Galatians 5:17, it says that the Holy Spirit and our evil human desires constantly fight against each other. The Holy Spirit is also the one that helps us memorize scripture. But you dare not blaspheme, because “he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation” (Mark 2:29) NKJV.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” (MATTHEW 28:19)
