Adultery = When one cheats on their spouse. Adultery is the same as fornication but you’re married. One of the Ten Commandments is “You shall not commit adultery” (Exodus 20:14) ESV. In the New Testament Jesus quoted this passage and then required more of us when he said, “that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful [desire] has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived said, “He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself” (Proverbs 6:32) ESV. Paul the greatest apostle said to “Flee from sexual immorality…(For) the sexually immoral person sins against his own body” (1 Corinthians 6:18) ESV.

“Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well. Should your springs be scattered abroad, streams of water in the streets? Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you” (Proverbs 5:15-17) ESV. In other words: Only sleep with your spouse. Why cheat and be with a loose unfaithful person? Be with your spouse only. Don’t share your body with people other than your spouse. “He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly he is led stray…[the loose woman’s] feet go down to death…she does not ponder the path of life” (Proverbs 5:5-6,23) ESV.

In the Law of Moses it says “If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death” (Leviticus 20:10) ESV. Wait till marriage. You’ll be glad you did!
